Home Scrimmage Report: first steps on home turf

For our first outing of the season, we hosted Académie Ste-Cécile International School for a preseason scrimmage. It was an intense cross-border matchup against the Windsor, Ontario-based academy, giving us a great opportunity to test our level right here on our home field.

TEAM DYNAMICS

The game was a hard-fought battle with plenty of ups and downs. While the squad is already very tight-knit off the pitch, we are still a work in progress when it comes to match play. We showed flashes of great potential, but it’s clear we still need to “grease the wheels” and find our collective rhythm as we shake off the early-season rust.

PERSONAL REFLECTIONS

It felt great to finally get back into a game situation. This scrimmage was crucial for me to:

  • Get comfortable at home: I started gaining a real feel for our own pitch and surroundings.

  • Build chemistry: I began developing a better on-field understanding with my teammates, learning their movements and habits in a live-game environment.

Even though it was just a scrimmage, the intensity was high. We leave the field with a clearer picture of our strengths and the areas where we need to improve. The foundation is there, and now it's all about putting in the work to become a well-oiled machine.
