Our preseason schedule continued with a high-intensity matchup (and a tight win, 59-62) against International Sports Academy (ISA). This scrimmage served as a crucial benchmark for our squad, allowing us to push our physical limits and refine our game plan against elite-level competition away from our own home field.
TEAM DYNAMICS
It was a contest that highlighted our growing confidence as a unit. We moved the ball with more intent and started to see the fruits of our recent training sessions through some sharp collective actions. We are still in the process of perfecting our timing, but the flashes of cohesion we showed today prove that we are quickly finding our identity and rhythm as a squad.
PERSONAL REFLECTIONS
Nothing beats the feeling of being back on the pitch. This match was a big step forward for me to:
-
Get comfortable: I’m really starting to own my space.
-
Learn the ‘local game’: I used this scrimmage to get a handle on the local officiating style and the specific rules of the league—shaking off the rust and picking up the nuances of the game here.
-
Sync up: I’m building a stronger connection with the guys, learning exactly where they want the ball and how we move together as a unit.
A hard-fought scrimmage that gave us exactly the feedback we were looking for. We can see the progress in our team play, but we also know where the 'screws' need tightening. The pieces are falling into place, and we’re ready to put in the work to ensure we’re firing on all cylinders when the real action begins.
