Opening the season with a new team, in a new city, and in a completely new league is always as tough as it is thrilling.
This debut in the 1ª División GESA marked a significant shift: we are no longer just playing against guys our own age, but squaring off against older, highly experienced, and athletic adults who know every trick in the book.
We started the game strong, building a comfortable double-digit lead, but things tightened up after halftime. As early-season rust and unpolished team chemistry kicked in, our opponents clawed their way back, shrinking our lead to just a 2-point game.
Despite the swings, the potential of this roster is undeniable, and we proved we have the grit to survive a battle.
PERSONAL REFLECTIONS
On a personal note, it was a milestone debut that began and ended with critical plays. I had the honor of scoring the team's very first official basket of the season, setting the tone right from the opening whistle. Trusting my growth, the coach put me in the starting lineup and kept me on the floor during the game's most intense, high-stakes minutes. When everything was on the line in the clutch and the game turned into a possession-by-possession war, I kept a cold mind and total focus. I drew key fouls and calmly knocked down 4-of-4 consecutive free throws to ice the game, rewarding the coach's trust and sealing a hard-fought debut victory.
