My journey at SPIRE continues with a home friendly game last against CODE Academy. While officially “just” an exhibition matchup, the intensity and competitiveness on the court made it feel far from casual. Every possession had purpose, and both teams treated it as a valuable test.
For me, this game carried special meaning. After my return, it was the moment where I finally felt my confidence, timing, and overall rhythm fully reconnect. It wasn’t only about playing minutes — it was about feeling like myself again.
TEAM DYNAMICS
Playing at home always brings a unique energy, and this game was no exception. We approached it with the right mindset: pushing the pace, trusting our spacing, and maintaining defensive discipline. There were stretches of good ball movement and communication, even though we were playing with a mixed lineup. Friendly or not, these games are crucial for building consistency and (re)gaining confidence.
PERSONAL REFLECTIONS
This matchup marked a turning point for me.
- Regaining confidence: After the challenges of returning, this was the first game where hesitation disappeared. I played instinctively — attacking opportunities, making quick decisions, and trusting my body without overthinking.
- Rediscovering rhythm: Game speed is something you can’t truly simulate. This time, everything started to click: the timing of cuts, defensive reads, and overall flow within the offense. I felt in sync with the tempo and the team.
- Playing free again: More than anything, I enjoyed competing. The movements felt natural, the reactions automatic. Instead of focusing on “how I feel,” I was simply immersed in the game.
Leaving the court, I felt something I hadn’t fully experienced since my return: genuine comfort and belief in my game. Step by step, I’m rebuilding not only my condition, but my identity as a player. And this game felt like a major step forward.
